For several centuries, our region was dotted with quarries, mainly sandstone quarries, from which millstones and building stones were extracted for construction. The Bonvillet sandstone quarry has been restored and enhanced by the Villageoise association.
The quarry is open to visitors all year round, with an educational trail guiding walkers (accessible to all).
It is also possible to take a 4 km walk (the Sentier des Carrières) during which you will discover several former stone quarries, pretty woodlands, and the Saône River winding through the Bonvillet Valley.
Every year at the end of August, the village association organizes a sandstone festival that brings the work of the quarrymen back to life!
