Cordeliers Convent
TUNA
Owned since 2006 by the Saône Lorraine association, the church and the eastern third of the former Franciscan convent of Les Thons date back to the late15th century.
From 1453, when it was founded, to 1791, when the Brothers left, the building underwent extensions in the16th century, reconstructions in the17th century, and embellishments. But the original core, privatized since the Revolution, remains intact: the church, classified since 1945, is a masterpiece of late Gothic architecture, and its unity strikes visitors.
Together with the convent itself, this is the best-preserved monastic complex dedicated to Saint Francis in the whole of eastern France.
Since the early 2000s, the Couvent des Cordeliers has benefited from the support of Stéphane Bern's Mission Patrimoine heritage initiative.
