BLEURVILLE
The abbey of Saint-Maur, church of the XI century transformed in the sixteenth century, in the Gothic era, then in very bad condition, was bought by the abbot Pierrat in 1973. it contains a 15th century wooden Christ and a 16th century pieta.
Thanks to the Scouts of France and volunteers, the restoration and development of the abbey continues every year. Moreover, it was these same volunteers who highlighted a splendid crypt of a very primitive novel and Burgundian influence, probably an ancient vestige of the church of Méranus (950).
Today, Saint-Maur is a cultural crossroads. Every summer, concerts and conferences take place, a small archaeological museum has been created as well as a Museum of Religious Life and Popular Piety.
Thus, the attractive power of this exceptional monument of the year Mil only strengthens from year to year.
Since 1976, the Friends of Saint-Maur have been working to safeguard and enhance this listed monument.
