In the past, the Ourche Valley has always experienced a strong economic activity due to the presence of water and forest: especially the production of glass and iron.

From 1724, the valley became, with the Hutte, Forge Neuve and Droiteval, an important metallurgical centre. The workers come from Tyrol and Switzerland. Cast iron ingots from Franche Comté are converted into steel. The steel manufactured here was of very high quality and was used in the manufacture of scythes, sickles, but also surgical instruments.

Private areas: the Coal Hall in Righteval, the House of the Master of Forge in La Hutte, the Palladian House in Righteval.
