It was around 1090 that monks, coming from the powerful Benedictine abbey of Luxeuil, in Haute-Saône, built a priory at Monthureux, whose present church was the chapel. In the 17th century, the priory was completely destroyed by fire; only two Romanesque pillars remain. The monks left the country and the church became parish.

One of the most remarkable pieces is certainly the tomb, made of polychrome wood dating from the late 15th century.
