The castle of Saint-Baslemont, rebuilt in the fourteenth century, has been greatly altered over the ages. (Presence of Merovingian sarcophagi)
In 1624, Jean-Jacques d'Haraucourt, owner of the castle married Barbe d'Ernecourt nicknamed Madame de Saint-Baslemont or the Christian amazon.
Her nickname comes from the fact that she was very different from the women of her time by her penchant for equestrian exercises and the handling of weapons. This atypical couple was not made to agree: she wanted to remain faithful to the King of France while her husband fought for the opposing troops, those of Charles IV of Lorraine.
